Just doing a post to clear the near year old journal. I don't really use this site as much anymore. No need to watch this space.

Bye bye London

0 min read
So now, a year after I moved to London I'm back home in Norway. Currently staying at my parents place near Trondheim. I never posted any more about London as promised in the previous post. In fact, I've mostly used dA to just check the messages. In any case, it now looks like I'm heading towards webdesign rather than modelmaking as a career. I'm working on updating my website to reflect that. And I'm more likely to post on my own blog than here. Though I wonder if it's possible to have it synced somehow... I've got a couple of live projects done. The first was my old Modelmaker course, where my tutors wanted a website to present the course

Right, so, this is the short story: I didn't move back home to Norway anyway, I ended up doing a pitstop in London. Finally got the internet in my new house. I have some new stuff hidden away that I'll upload eventually. Now, please hang on for the long story.

Thanks for the devwatch :)
hi, i love your 'computer case design'. Im actually at the AIB and im thinking of doing modelmaking next year.
could i have your opinion on the course & wether you liked it?
& this may sound like a stupid question, but as a modelmaker do you get to travel frequently?
Sorry again for the questions, but id love to have feedback from someone with experience.
Thanks.
Did you ever end up doing modelmaking?
I loved the Modelmaking course. And from what I've seen and heard AIB is the best modelmaking course in the UK. The resources in terms of tools are very good. I've not worked at a place which has that much machinery and tools etc. So if you do do the course, make the most out of and try as many things as possible.

There was a few months after graduation where I ended up doing some webdesign jobs. Just by pure chance. And I nearly ended up starting my own webdesign company. But even then I wasn't regretting ever doing the modelmaking course. Now I'm back in the modelmaking industry again at an architectural office.

As for travelling, that will depend solely on where you end up. As a freelancer you'll find more opportunities to travel. Some of my classmates have done jobs at different places. Quite a few has been in Dubai. So I'd say it's all up to have you make of it.

It will also depend on how open you are towards different types of jobs. If you are set on a very specific type of jobs it might be harder to find them as the different sectors within modelmaking differs greatly.

Let me know if you got more questions.
